Killer Whales Very Strong at COHO All Level

<>With most of the top swimmers traveling to Seattle at the end of the month for a big meet, it was up to 8 young Killer Whales to carry the banner for the whole team at the annual May All Level Meet in Victoria at the Saanich Commonwealth Pool. But those 8 swimmers did a great job, including capturing 8 top three finishes from four different swimmers.

Tulsa Massee had four of those top 3 finishes, including a second place finish in the 50 freestyle and three third place finishes in the 200IM, 50 Backstroke and 100 Backstroke. Mitch Rioux had two first place finishes in the 13 and 14 boys age group, in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle while Karlyn Healy scored a second place finish in the girls 800 freestyle and Kieran Poile scored a third in the boys 10 and under 100 Fly.

Overall the club was 67% personal best times at the meet. Massee once again led the way in that category, swimming 9 best times out of 9 events including a 6 second drubbing of his old 200 freestyle time. Karlyn Healy had 6 best times while Mitch Rioux had 5 and Vera Leivsdottir and David John Palmer both chipped in with 4. Morgan Healy and Kieran Poile rounded out the best time brigade with three each.

David John Palmer had a 50 second improvement in the 200 breaststroke while Kieran Poile had a 16 second improvement in the 100 breaststroke. Karlyn Healy took 40 seconds from her 800 freestyle while sister Morgan improved 77 seconds in the same event. Vera Leivsdottir dropped 11 seconds from her 200 freestyle in another excellent improvement.
