Mike Brown and Morgan Knabe beat standards in opening heats at the World Aquatic Championship Trials in swimming

<>MONTREAL- Mike Brown of Calgary and Morgan Knabe of Victoria beat the time standard in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke Tuesday to highlight the opening preliminary session at the World Aquatic Championship Trials in swimming being held this week at the Claude-Robillard Centre,

Brown, sixth in the 200 breaststroke at the Athens Olympics, clocked 1:01.66 to beat the 1:02.52 standard. Canadian record holder Morgan Knabe of Victoria clocked second at 1:02.21. Brown and Knabe can solidify their nominations to the world team in tonight’s final.

Scott Dickens of Vancouver was third in this morning’s race, coming close to the standard at 1:02.78.
