World Championship Trials - Day 1 Finals

MONTREAL- Mike Brown of Calgary and Scott Dickens of Vancouver grabbed the two available spots for the world team in men’s 100-metre breaststroke Tuesday to highlight the first night of finals at the world championship trials in swimming.

In all seven swimmers earned a nomination Tuesday to race for Canada at the 2005 World Aquatic Championships July 17-31 in Montreal.

In the men’s 100 breaststroke, Brown won the race in 1:01.83 after posting a personal best 1:01.66 in the preliminaries. Dickens grabbed the second spot clocking 1:01.97 while Canadian record holder Morgan Knabe of Victoria, first at the turn, was third in 1:02.42.
