A great time was had by all on Friday as the Gold and Silver groups converged on Coach Dave's for fun in the sun, good food and a night time movie on the big screen outside. At the same time, the junior and senior groups were at Barb Sharpes for more fun.

VIR's is quickly approaching but, before that, the Nanaimo Outdoor meet will occur this weekend. New to follow.

We're on our way home

After another successful session, we ended up 11th overall, far outdistancing the 12th place team after swimming only 4 out of the 5 sessions...an excellent result. For all parents, we will be returning at 7:00 pm and will meet at the budget in Willow Point at that time. We'll see you then!

Preston to join team at Canadian Club Nationals

Aven Preston has been seeking a club national qualifying time for a while now. But before this mornings preliminary session, she knew that she had a chance if she swam her best race...and she did. Her time of 33.16 in the girls 50 meter fly was .24 under the standard and will get the 12 year old to the Canadian Club National Championships in Winnipeg in late July. Her and Marisa Gorjeu went head to head and in the end Preston was the victor with Gorjeu coming agonizingly close with a clocking of 33.61, only .21 over the standard of 33.40.

Day 2 at the meet - Team Cheer

Our 12 and unders got us off on the right foot this morning with a great team cheer prior to the relays. The 10 and unders broke the girls club record to get us started. More results to follow but see live results here.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

36 Killer Whales, parents and coaches joined 37, 250 of their closest friends at Safeco field in Seattle to watch the Seattle Mariners beat the San Diego Padres 5-3, snapping the Padres 8 game winning streak. We saw two home runs and Ichiro steal a home run with an above the wall catch to keep the lead. This is a video of us at the game, having a great time and eating lots of junk food, including garlic fries, foot long hotdogs and cotton candy. Hope we can sleep it off well enough to swim fast tomorrow. Highlights of the day at the pool included Carter Gorjeu breaking three club records, Kyron Winkelmeyer winning the mens 100 meter breaststroke and the 12 and under girls and 15 and over boys 200 medley relay placing 4th and Aven Preston and Andrea Gilbert also placing 4th in the 100 fly and 100 back respectively.

Here's a video of Alec and Carter placing 1st and 3rd in their heat of boys 50 free. Alec was in lane 4 (4th from the bottom) and Carter is lane 6th (3rd from the top). Their times of 33.22 and 34.03 were both lifetime best times and Carter's time was a new club record for 10 and under boys.

Well...you all thought the Commonwealth Pool was big??? This is our home for the next two days. 2500 seats, 8 lanes LC, 7 lanes sc yards warm down. Here's a video of the dump. Make sure you check back often for live race results here as well as race videos from all the sessions.
